I was sure my recovery would keep me from finding employment, but IPS found my strength and a job that fit perfectly.

If a GRAND client wants help finding a job, IPS is there to help. IPS is a method of supported employment that helps people find jobs and stay in the job by respecting people’s strengths, interests, current skills, and desires. If a person wants to go to school so that they can later find a job in a field of their choice, then IPS assists with this goal as well. IPS continues to work with people even after they start a job or school to provide individualized support and help them be successful.

How Is IPS Different?

Employment is considered a tool for recovery, so any GRAND client is welcome in the program regardless of how advanced they are in their treatment or other goals. Other program highlights include:

  • There is no eligibility criteria to meet, so all interested are welcome.
  • Clients can set up their goals (rather than focus on “approved” activities, which is typically characteristic of other employment services).
  • Clients guide the process.
  • The services include a strengths-based assessment, which allows individualized, targeted delivery and design of employment and career plans, along with a corresponding support plan.
  • Clients meet with Employment Specialists in the community and learn to take advantage of natural community resources.
  • The Employment Specialists conduct targeted job development based on client’s preferences and strengths.
