(Tulsa, OK. JAN. 30, 2024) – The Tulsa Urgent Recovery Center (URC), a brand-new facility providing unbridled access to comprehensive mental health and addiction recovery treatment, has served nearly 300 individuals since it opened in late December.

“Eighty-eight percent of the individuals who came through the URC transitioned to clinical treatment to combat the addictions they are battling,” said Nicholas Allgood, GRAND’s Chief Clinical Officer of Crisis Services.  “These clients opted to receive treatment because they are serious about doing the work to turn their lives around.”

GRAND’s 24/7 mobile outreach crews are also keeping up with the growing demand for mental health treatment.  With their busiest hours occurring after midnight, GRAND engaged with more than 2,000 individuals last month.

“Clients are actively engaging in substance use treatment thanks to the reliability and support of our outreach teams,” said Allgood.  “Our mobile routes hit popular homeless encampments, convenient stores, and other high traffic areas every night throughout the city during hours when most people are sleeping.  Our strategy of providing around-the-clock access to detox and residential treatment is making a difference in communities we serve, and we couldn’t be prouder of the impacts we are seeing every day.”

Roughly a dozen local agencies rely on GRAND’s outreach efforts like QuikTrip, the Day Center for the Homeless, Iron Gate Soup kitchen, and Salvation Army.  Through a partnership with the Tulsa Fire Department, Narcan boxes are also available for the public at four Tulsa Fire Departments.

“We are heavily involved with the Tulsa Fire Department’s Overdose Response Team,” said Kim Hill, GRAND’s Chief Clinical Officer Tulsa .  “Individuals who have overdosed are followed up with by the Overdose Response Team and are referred to us for treatment or transportation to one of our facilities. Through shared purpose and strong partnerships, we can break down barriers to help those who need it most.”
