GRAND Launches 24/7 Crisis Assessment Center Model in Delaware County
A major update in behavioral health crisis care is underway as GRAND Mental Health strengthens its services in northeastern Oklahoma. Effective April 16, 2025, GRAND officially transitioned its Jay Urgent Recovery Center (URC) in Delaware County into a 24/7 Crisis Assessment Center, a new service model designed to ensure continued access to life-saving support while advancing long-term sustainability.
This transformation reflects GRAND’s commitment to responsive, person-centered care for individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance use crises. The new center will maintain 24/7 operations and provide on-site de-escalation, assessment, and referral services — including transportation to nearby GRAND Urgent Recovery Centers when necessary.
The pilot of the new GRAND Crisis Assessment Center in Delaware County paves the way for future assessment centers in communities whose population counts may not justify a full Urgent Recovery Center. With lower overhead and less staffing requirements, while still affording 24/7 access to care, the Crisis Assessment Centers provide an entirely new entry point for access in communities that may otherwise do without.
“This shift allows us to be efficient while sustaining a critical access point for those in crisis in Delaware County,” said Josh Cantwell, CEO of GRAND Mental Health. “We’re adjusting the model to ensure people in need continue to receive immediate, compassionate support—when and where they need it most.”
The updated model includes a streamlined staffing structure tailored to meet community needs without compromising care. Every employee of the Delaware County Urgent Recovery Center has transitioned to a new role or location that best fits their strengths and interests.
The 24/7 Crisis Assessment Center builds on GRAND’s mission to serve as a reliable behavioral health partner across the region, reaching individuals at their most vulnerable moments with dignity, connection, and expertise.
